Earlier this summer, I talked about beginning with the prequel to the Kingsbridge series, to see if I liked stories about everyday life in a Medieval village.
The Evening and The Morning was turgid and slow-going in places, but lured me into beginning the series proper with the first book written about Kingsbridge, The Pillars of the Earth from 1989. I've decided to alternate more books in this series with books in the Hilary Mantel Wolf Hall trilogy, for no reason other than to get as sick as possible of mid-millenium England.
